Notes from the December 2nd meeting

E-mail Print PDF

Quorum was achieved...eventually....but we were lacking a sufficient number of officers. The meeting was informal.

Meeting dates for the next several months have been set. The Bylaws set the date, but the location is not set. We will experiment with three month blocks. Therefor, the schedule is as follows:

  • St John's, Montville:
    • December 30
    • January 27
    • February 24
  • St. Agnes, Niantic (tentative until these dates can be confirmed):
    • March 31
    • April 28
    • May 26

The Call-em-all service will continue to broadcast meeting reminders. Please inform members of your council of the dates. It is inexpensive, easy to use, and a convenient means of contacting the assembly.

Attendees decided that the Assembly needed to work to support the Councils. By being active among our member councils, we may increase membership in our councils and assembly. Knights masses, helping during blitzes, and other activities are examples.  Inter council events - like a potluck supper - was discussed as well.

The current economic situation has caused a significant amount of hardship for many. I would like to begin planning an Assembly-wide food drive. Over the course of a few weekends, we can join our councils in parish food drives, perhaps culminating in an event with a cooperating Stop and Shop or Shop Rite. The Shop Rite in New London is active with community action events such as this. I will introduce this topic to the December meeting and - if there is interest - we will create a committee.

Thank you for your attention. Please accept my prayers for a wonderful Advent and Blessed Christmas. I hope to see you for our December meeting at St. John's.

Vivat Iesus!
